Sekhukhune United’s CAF Confederations Cup opponents Young Buffaloes from Eswatini have reportedly withdrawn from the competition.

Young Buffaloes finished second in their domestic league behind Green Mamba, despite going the whole campaign unbeaten.

They were drawn against Babina Noko in the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup but are said to have withdrawn over financial issues that would’ve come with hosting the DStv Premiership side and travels to South Africa, as per reports in Eswatini.

Brandon Truter’s men, who enter the competition for the first time in their history, will now likely get a bye into the second round, where they will face St. Eloi Lupopo, who were in Marumo Gallants CAFCC group last season.

The DR Congo side lost 2-1 at home to Gallants, and were also defeated 3-2 in the return leg.

Meanwhile, Gavin Hunt’s SuperSport United were one of the exempted teams from the first preliminary round and will only enter the competition in the second preliminary round, where they will face the winner of the clash between Gaborone United from Botswana and Elgeco Plus from Madagascar.
