Seema Warns More To Come From Mmodi

Golden Arrows head coach Lehlohonolo Seema says Pule Mmodi is far from his best despite his impressive display in the win against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.

The 29-year-old winger represents a late bloomer for South African football having arrived in the DStv Premiership in October 2020 via Uthongathi – where he impressed in the GladAfrica Championship.

His displays at the KZN club has seen him become a regular call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad under head coach Hugo Broos but he’s yet to make his official senior bow.

And amid the plaudits, Seema says there’s much more to come from the mercurial talent who’s scored four league goals this season.

“You can’t be on top of your game throughout the season, we understand that as coaches, the only thing we can do is support him and if you say he’s on top of his game but I don’t think it’s half of what he can do,” Seema said.

“We know what he can do, that is why we supported and stuck with him and kept him on [the pitch] because even if he’s not having a good game we know that anything can happen because he’s a great player.

“It happens to the best, you can have a bad day at the office but like I said today, he’s a good player, but today he wasn’t at his best – I can tell you next game we’ll push and encourage him and he’ll be good.”

Since joining Abafana Bes’thende, Mmodi has scored nine goals and registered two assists in 53 games across all competitions.
