Seema Reacts To Last Minute Disallowed Goal Vs Chiefs

Chippa United head Lehlohonolo Seema has not questioned the referee after his side’s late goal against Kaizer Chiefs was ruled out for a foul on goalkeeper Brandon Petersen.

Chilli Boys’ survival chances took another knock and are getting slimmer after Amakhosi beat them 1-0 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Thursday.

The Eastern Cape side narrowly lost to Chiefs after a sublime finish from Ashley Du Preez with less than 20 minutes to play.

However, Chippa could’ve picked up a point with the last corner of the game, when the ball ended up in the Chiefs net, but referee blew his whistle for a foul on Petersen.

Seema, who recently replaced Kurt Lentjies as the head coach of Chippa United, though, admitted that he believes it was a foul on the Chiefs keeper.

“That’s why I’m saying they fought until the end. I didn’t see it, it was a lot of players in there but for us to fight like up until it was at the back of the net,” Seema told SuperSport TV.

“Then the referee saw a foul. I believe it was a foul and we live another day. We will go to Durban and try to fight.”

The Chilli Boys will face struggling Richards Bay, who are winless in their last 12 matches, in the upcoming DStv Premiership encounter. Another defeat would leave Chippa on 26 points – two behind Marumo Gallants in 14th spot.
