Second Suspect Due in Court Over Reiger Park Murders

A second suspect linked to the deadly Reiger Park mass shooting is expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 18 August 2026.

The 24-year-old man was arrested on Sunday following an intensive tracing operation involving the Hawks, Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department and several SAPS units.

Police have not yet publicly detailed the charges he is expected to face.

His arrest forms part of the ongoing investigation into the killing of two Anti-Gang Unit officers and two women in Reiger Park earlier this month.

Four people killed in shooting

The two police officers were part of a crime-prevention team conducting patrols in Reiger Park on 7 August.

SAPS said preliminary information indicated that the officers heard gunshots and drove towards the scene before they were allegedly ambushed.

Two civilian women were also killed during the incident. SAPS later appealed to residents to help investigators identify and locate those responsible.

The two officers and one of the women were laid to rest in Gauteng and Limpopo over the weekend, according to EWN.

Reagan Collis remains in custody

The latest arrest follows the earlier detention of 23-year-old Reagan Collis.

Collis appeared in the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court last week and faces four counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances.

He also faces charges relating to the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Collis remains in custody and is expected to formally apply for bail on 25 August. The charges against him have not yet been proven in court.

Stolen police rifles recovered

Investigators have also recovered two R5 rifles allegedly stolen from the officers who were killed.

The weapons were found at a squatter camp in Germiston during the investigation into the murders.

Police previously indicated that they believed Collis may not have acted alone.

The arrest of a second suspect now marks another development in the investigation, which police say remains ongoing.
