Actress Stephanie Ndlovu of the television show Scandal recently shared a sneak peek of her baby on Instagram and the difficulties of motherhood and how the experience has affected her. The well-known actress is a recent mother who gave birth a few months ago.

Stephanie revealed a sneak peek of her child while explaining how being a mother is very different from what she had anticipated. She said that she was the aunt who always had a perfect vision of how this journey would play out and that she was the last person in her family and friends to become a mother. She shared some of the things she told herself before becoming a mother and said it’s amazing how those who don’t even have children have fascinating ideas about motherhood, just like she did, in a thorough and sincere post.

She began by telling herself that she would not accept “the new me” as an excuse; after six weeks, she would return to the gym, and by three months, she would return to her pre-pregnancy weight. Because she was 15 kg or heavier, she didn’t want anyone to come after her and tell her to “be patient, love your beautiful body that carried an entire human.” She also revealed that she promised herself she’d be back at work before three months because she’s always worked and because “just” sitting at home feeding a baby and changing diapers is not her idea of a good time.

Thirdly, Stephanie said she didn’t want to deal with a “spoilt” child, so she assumed her baby would have strict sleep schedules, routines, and consistency. Fourth, she told herself that she was not responsible for postpartum depression or baby blues. Fifth, she asserted that she would remain the same even after giving birth and that people choose to leave behind their former selves.

The joke was on her, of course. Stephanie said: “For one, I’m heavier than I was while I was pregnant, and people shouldn’t ask me how,” adding that the cause is stress, hormones, comfort eating, or whatever else. Second, she recently declined an amazing role eight weeks after giving birth because she wasn’t physically or emotionally prepared to work. Thirdly, on some days, she and her husband succeed with routines, while on other days, she chooses to let her baby sleep in my arms for hours at a time.

Fourth, she experienced severe baby blues and never cried as much as she did during the first four weeks of motherhood. She claims that every day, everywhere, she cried. Fifth, she is not the same person because she has never experienced the kind of love that consumes her entire being, it makes her think exclusively of this tiny soul and causes her to hold her baby in her little hands while wholly overcome by her love. That love completely alters you, she emphasised.
