  • SASSA announced a R10 increase in all social grants, effective from the October 2025 payment cycle.
  • Updated grant amounts include Old Age, Disability, Care Dependency, and War Veterans grants, each rising by R10.
  • October 2025 payment dates: Old Age (2 Oct), Disability (3 Oct), and Children’s Grants (6 Oct).

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has informed all beneficiaries that social grant amounts will increase by R10 in the October payment cycle.

According to a statement released by SASSA on Thursday, 25 September 2025, the adjustment follows the announcement made earlier this year by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana during the 2025/26 Budget Speech.

At the time, the Gondongwana confirmed a large increase in social grants effective 1 April 2025, followed by a slight increase on 1 October 2025.

The social grant amounts will be increased as follows:

• Old Age Grants will increase from R2310 to R2320

• Old Age Grants (older than 75 years) will increase from R2 330 to R2 340

• War Veterans Grant will increase from R2 330 to R2 340

• Disability Grant will increase from R2 310 to R2 320

• Care Dependency Grant will increase from R2 310 to R2 320

SASSA CEO, Mr Themba Matlou welcomed the social grant increase and said, “This reaffirms government’s commitment to protecting the most vulnerable in society, easing financial burden and cushioning them against economic hardships”

SASSA also reiterated the dates of social grant payments for October 2025:

• Old Age Grant will be paid on 2 October 2025

• Disability Grants will be paid on 3 October 2025

• Children’s Grants will be paid on 6 October 2025
