The South African Social Security Agency(SASSA) is expected to begin grant payments on Tuesday, and the elderly grant recipients can expect to receive a little extra this month.
SASSA GRANT INCREASES
As of Sunday 1 October the old age grant will increase by R10, which will see pensioners under 75 years receive R2090, and those above 75 year receiving R2110.

The nominal increase will apply to all grants except for the child support top up grant which will at R250.

This is the second time beneficiaries have received an increase on their grant.
In April their was a R90 increase on the old age grant, meaning this year, recipients have received an increase of R100 on their grant.
WHO QUALIFIES FOR OLD AGE GRANT

SASSA implements the following criteria to screen those wishing to apply for the old age grant.
You are a South African citizen, permanent resident, or refugee.
You live in South Africa.
You are 60 years or older.
You are not living in a state institution.
You are not receiving payments from another social grant.
Your spouse complies with the means test.
You submit your identity document (ID).
You don’t earn more than R86 280 if you are single, or R 172 560 if married.
You don’t have assets worth more than R1 227 600 if you are single, or R2 455 200 if you’re married.
PAYMENT DATES FOR OCTOBER

SASSA grant beneficiaries can expect to receive their payouts a little early this month. SASSA and Postbank have assured beneficiaries that they will receive their monies as expected.
