The South African Football Association have revealed their intentions to host this season’s CAF Champions League final as well as the second edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League finals.
SAFA’s Provincial Chairs are currently meeting at the SAFA house with representatives of the media to give an update on the state of football in their respective provinces.
During the event, SAFA vice present Gladwyn White announced SAFA ambitions to host the men’s and women’s CAFCL finals
“SAFA intends to bid to host the 2022 CAF Champions League final as well as the 2nd Edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League final,” he said.
Last year’s CAFCL final was held at the State Mohammed V in Casablanca, Morocco, where Al Ahly beat Kaizer Chiefs 3-0.
Meanwhile, the CAF Women’s Champions League finals took place in Cairo, seeing Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies lifting the inaugural title of the tournament after beating Hasaacas ladies 2-0.
The news could offer a boost for the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu, who could be keen to play the final in Mzansi – should they qualify.
