Bafana Bafana will not have a friendly fixture after their clash against Morocco on Thursday evening, SAFA CEO Advcoate Tebogo Motlanthe has confirmed.

South Africa are currently in a group of only three teams for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after Zimbabwe were disqualified by FIFA due to government interference within the Football Federation.

This meant that only one game would be played for South Africa during this international break and with most of the African nation playing qualifiers, attempts to face Iran was proposed which has now officially fallen through.

“From our standing, we had done our paperwork with Iran, where we’re even requested to send the passport of players,” he told SAFA media.

“But later they came back to say they’re unable to play us of course, they set up through agents. And, of course, because of the late cancellation, unfortunately, do not have a friendly for this window. But the coach has promised to submit his September program which will include friendlies of course.”

Hugo Broos’ side face the North African giants this evening at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium this evening at 21h00.
