Sad scenes: Bodies found on the side of a road

Four bodies of suspected illegal miners have been found on the side of a road.

Gauteng SAPS spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said the bodies were found wrapped in blankets and plastic bags next to Snake Road in Benoni, Ekurhuleni, on Wednesday night, 13 April.

Masondo said the deceased were suspected to be illegal miners, and not identified.

“Police were called anonymously over bodies that were dumped next to the road. On arrival, they found four bodies wrapped in blankets and plastic bags,” said Masondo.

He added that an inquest docket was opened for investigation, and a post-mortem would be conducted to confirm the cause of death.
