ANC partners, Cosatu and the SA Communist Party are once again battling to come to terms with their junior status in their pact with the ANC.
This time they are unhappy about the ANC’s decision to form a government of national unity with the DA, the FF+ and others.
They even claim they were not consulted by the ANC. Not true.
As part of the tripartite alliance, they and the SA National Civic Organisation were consulted and they objected to the proposal and they called for the inclusion of the destructive EFF and MK party.
With growing the economy and enforcing the centrality of the judiciary in SA, both the EFF and the MK party were deemed as not ideal partners.
They are both against the business sector, wish to nationalise the reserve bank, private banks and mines and amend the Constitution or do away with it.
On Monday, SACP secretary Solly Mapaila said they will keep questioning the ANC’s decision to include the DA.
“During the ANC’s talks with other parties, we were only told about the decisions that had already been taken,” Mapaila said.
“When you listen to Hellen Zille speak in public, we realise that there is a real reason why we were excluded from the meetings.”
He said the SACP needs to have more discussions about their future with the ANC.
Mapaila said breaking away from the ANC is not their goal as it would weaken their efforts against their opponents.
ANC acting spokesperson Zuko Godlimpi said Cosatu and the SACP are not subcommittees of the ANC and have their own views.
He said they would keep consulting them to find common ground.
