Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu etched his name into South African rugby history on Saturday night, producing a breathtaking individual display as the Springboks stormed to a 67-30 victory over Argentina at Hollywoodbets Kings Park in Durban, Cape {town} Etc reports.

The young flyhalf amassed an astonishing 37 points, eclipsing Percy Montgomery’s long-standing mark of 35 set against Namibia in 2007. His haul included three tries, eight conversions and two penalties – a performance that had the 45 158-strong crowd on their feet until the final whistle.

Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s record-breaking moment arrived with the last kick of the match, when he slotted the conversion after Pieter-Steph du Toit’s second try, sealing an unforgettable night for the hosts and sending them to the top of the Castle Lager Rugby Championship standings.

Argentina proved stubborn opponents in the first half, keeping pace with the Boks and even holding the lead on occasions. Santiago Carreras punished South African indiscipline with three penalties, while Santiago Chocobares pounced on a rare Cheslin Kolbe error to score. A penalty try following a collapsed maul added to the Pumas’ tally, with Malcolm Marx sent to the sin bin.

But the Springboks refused to be rattled. Marx had already crossed for the first try of the evening from a powerful maul, and Feinberg-Mngomezulu responded to Argentina’s late surge before the break with two tries of his own – one either side of half-time – to give the home side a slender 25-23 advantage at the interval.

From there, the Boks turned on the style. Kolbe redeemed his earlier mistake with a brilliant finish after gathering a clever kick from Feinberg-Mngomezulu, before the flyhalf completed his hat-trick with a cheeky dummy that left Argentina’s defence flat-footed.

Tomas Albornoz briefly reignited hope for the visitors with a slick solo effort, but the floodgates soon opened. Morné van der Berg dotted down after a flowing move, Du Toit powered over twice and Manie Libbok added a neat chip-and-chase try as South Africa closed out a dominant second half.

The bonus-point win moved the Boks one point clear of the All Blacks on the Championship log with a single round remaining. South Africa will face Argentina again next weekend at London’s Twickenham, while Australia host New Zealand in Perth.

For Feinberg-Mngomezulu, the night marked not just a personal milestone but a statement of intent – a performance that will be remembered as one of the great individual displays in Springbok Test history.
