Cape Town City teenager Luphumlo Sifumba has been listed amongst the Guardian’s 60 of the best young talents in world football for 2022.

The South Africa youth international has been training with the Citizens’ first team since the age of 15 and is widely considered as the most promising prospect to emerge out of their academy.

Blessed with vision, and supreme ball control, ‘Kaka’ has all the attributes of the modern playmaker and despite not making his DStv Premiership debut yet, his talent is already being recognised globally.

The 17-year-old became the first African footballer to sign with American sports agency Roc Nation, which holds the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku among the superstar athletes within their stable.

And this has brought about major optimism for growth in the right direction that he will receive the right guidance and opportunities to make the most of his undeniable talent.

“We believe he has the potential to play in Europe in the next few years,” City head of development, Grant Veitch told the Guardian.

‘Kaka’ made headlines in Mzansi when he formed part of the Coastal United in the DStv Compact Cup and scored a stunning goal for the Steve Barker-led side in the 3-0 win over Dinaledi.
