The South African Football Association have announced the SA U16 squad that will travel for a tournament in Poland later this month, with Cape Town-based Ubuntu having the most representatives.
The tournament will run from 27 March to 1 April 2023 and Zipho Dlangalala will be in charge of the team, assisted by Mandla Mathaba while Thomas Nare will be the goalkeeper coach.
South Africa take on Northern Ireland on 27 March before facing Poland two days later and wrapping up their trip with a game against Luxembourg on 1 April.
On Monday, SAFA confirmed the squad, with coach Dlangalala confirming that 19 of the 20 players arrived for the camp this morning.
“The camp started very well, with the players reporting for duty yesterday on Sunday. This morning on Monday (6 March 2023) we had all the players in camp except for one player who will be joining us late this afternoon,” Dlangalala said, as per SAFA.
“So from the 20 players expected in camp, 19 are here with us. We finished a training session in the morning and nobody has any problems. Nobody came to camp with problems. We are looking forward to continuing with this exercise and put this young team together, the Under-16 national team.”
