South African referee Abongile Tom has been appointed to officiate a CAF Confederations Cup quarter-final in Nigeria.

Tom has been going in and out of the country officiating international matches.

The Cape Town-born has been a stand-out referee in the country, and we’ve witnessed him being appointed in almost all CAF tournaments. In January he was in Algeria during CHAN.

It has reached our ears at iDiski Times that Abongile Tom has been appointed to officiate the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal first leg between Enyimba of Nigeria and Young Africans of Tanzania.

The 31-year-old will be assisted by Ivanildo Meirelles de Oliveira from Angola, and Abelmiro DOS REIS Monte Negro from Sao Tome and Principe.

The fourth official will be the Ugandan international Awuye Yusuf Suleiman. The Video Assistant Referee will be operated by two Moroccans Hamza El Fariq and Adil Zourak.

The inter-club quarter-final’s first leg will be kicked off on 23rd April.
