SA Midfielder To Replace Zungu At Amiens?

Amiens SC have made contact with Varbergs BoiS over the potential signing of Luke Le Roux as they look to find a replacement for Bongani Zungu.

The Ligue 2 club who finished in 14th place last season has seen Arnaud Lusamba and Zungu leave on free transfers this month and are now in the market to rebuild their squad to challenge for promotion under Philippe Hinschberger.

While they attempted to retain the Bafana Bafana midfielder, Zungu opted not to extend and will now weigh up offers for his next move with reports linking him to Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs, although he’s made it clear that he would prefer continuing his career in Europe should an interesting offer materialise.

iDiski Times understands his former club have made initial contact with Varberg for Le Roux, who has also been on the radar of Cercle Brugge and Sparta Rotterdam in recent months after emerging as one of the most highly-rated talents in the Allsvenskan in his defensive midfield role.

While the interest from Brugge cooled down due to the potential package needed to secure him in a position they hold several options, the interest from Amiens is likely to be more concrete as they are in the market for a central midfielder.

The 22-year-old has been in impressive form at the start of his third full season in the Swedish top-flight and Bafana head coach Hugo Broos confirmed a few months ago that he and teammate Tashreeq Matthews are on the radar for potential call-ups.
