SA Government congratulates Qhawekazi Mazaleni

The Eastern Cape is once again home to a national icon, as its own Qhawekazi Mazaleni was crowned Miss South Africa 2025 in a prestigious ceremony on Saturday, 25 October.

The 24-year-old from Dutywa triumphed at the SunBet Arena in Menlyn, Pretoria. She secured the coveted title and brought immense pride to her province and the nation.

SA GOVERNMENT CONGRATULATES THE NEW MISS SOUTH AFRICA

The South African government was quick to offer its congratulations, releasing a statement celebrating her achievement, according to EWN.

“We wish Mazaleni well as she undertakes her reign and continues to inspire young women to pursue their dreams and contribute positively to society,” the statement read.

The government also highlighted the role of the pageant in promoting youth leadership and social responsibility.

WHO IS THE NEW MISS SOUTH AFRICA?

Qhawekazi Mazaleni, a youth ambassador, speech therapist, and author, impressed the judges with her purpose-driven vision.

She holds a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. She has also authored a children’s book designed to support learners with cerebral palsy.

Her win provides a powerful platform to advance her advocacy for inclusive education and representation.

THE FIRST AND SECOND PRINCESS

The government also extended warm congratulations to the first and second princesses. Luyanda Zuma, who placed as the first runner-up, and Karabo Mareka, the second runner-up.

They congratulated them for their remarkable performances in the competition.

MISS UNIVERSE SOUTH AFRICA

In a double victory for the province, the Eastern Cape also celebrated Mellisa Nayimuli from Butterworth. Mellisa was recently crowned Miss Universe South Africa.

The Eastern Cape Provincial Government, led by Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane, lauded both women as beacons of hope and true ambassadors.

He stated their triumph celebrates the power of dreams and hard work, embodying the spirit of the province’s youth.

As she begins her reign, all eyes are on Qhawekazi Mazaleni to see how she will use the title to inspire a new generation and drive meaningful change across the country.
