Why did Lorna Maseko choose Atlanta?
The 43-year-old chef has been frequenting the city as she builds her brand and culinary career abroad. She stated that the journey began during her Taste of London and Taste of Dubai festivals. She knew she wanted to showcase South African cuisine on a global scale.
She ended up in the United States and started pursuing her culinary career there. She points out that there is an untouched market in America for South Africans to open restaurants.
However, there aren’t many restaurants that offer South African cuisine. Her goal then became to expose more and more Americans to famous South African dishes such as chakalaka, boerewors, and magwinya.
“At the heart of the menu is chakalaka. Bold, comforting, resourceful and made to be shared. Throughout the evening, those familiar flavours are reimagined and woven through a seven-course experience, meeting the ingredients and traditions of the American South along the way.”

“Atlanta, your place at the table awaits.”
