Ryan Reynolds’ rep breaks silence on his unsealed texts

The representative for Ryan Reynolds has spoken up about the texts from the actor that were revealed in the case between his wife, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.

Lively (38) and Baldoni (42) starred in It Ends with Us, a film about domestic abuse, after which Lively sued her co-star-director Baldoni over alleged sexual harassment and retaliation, which he denies.

Baldoni countersued Lively and Reynolds for defamation and extortion, but his case was dismissed.

According to People, Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman said in a statement, “As stated all along, and reflected in our clients’ motions, as well as in messages from Sony discussing Ms. Lively’s behaviours, the evidence does not support [Lively’s] claims as a matter of law. A simple read of the newly released message exchanges make[s] the truth abundantly clear. We remain confident in the legal process and clearing the names of all the Justin Baldoni parties.”

Ryan Reynolds’ text

Among the unsealed texts, Reynolds (49) voiced frustration that Baldoni was not doing anything to calm the negative attention Lively was getting at the time for alleged behind-the-scenes drama as the film was released at the box office, reports People.

“I’m super frustrated because this is a moment in which Blake should be celebrating. She made this unbelievable win happen,” he allegedly wrote at the time, adding, “She WILLED this weekend into reality. Baldoni and these other buckets of dumb-dumb-juice should be acknowledging the speculation and gossip themselves. They should be jumping in front of it in the most full throated, unqualified way. Now.”

Ryan Reynolds’ representative talks

According to Entertainment Weekly, Reynolds’ rep came out in defence of the actor, saying: “Yes, Ryan got involved — what husband wouldn’t support his wife and the mother of his children?”

“He saw his wife fighting daily to stand up against sexual harassment in a private and respectful way, only to face retaliation for doing so. If anything, Ryan feels like he wasn’t angry enough. He passionately believes in and will stand up for the basic right to a safe workplace free of harassment and retaliation for his wife and others. Then, now and always,” said the rep.
