Ngobeni joined the club from Bloemfontein Celtic in July 2021 before the club sold their status to Royal AM and after featuring twice in cameo substitute roles, he spent the rest of the season on loan at SuperSport United.
The lanky left-back who turned 25 ins February is blessed with searing pace and an educated left-foot which was on display in their 2-1 win over Golden Arrows at Tuks Stadium on Saturday when Sundowns moved back to the summit of the DStv Premiership table.
“Sifiso did very well for a debut, he understood the position and responsibilities that we have him, we chose to go with Sifiso because we wanted higher full-backs for this game,” Mokwena said after the game.
“But the boy has a bright future. He’s a boy from Mamelodi, he’s a boy that loves and grew up supporting Sundowns, what an incredible story for him to play for his childhood team.
“I think you can see he plays with a smile on his face, he expressed himself and that’s what we want to see. Still more to come from him, incredible potential but we’ll help him, we’ll coach him and we’ll try our level best to assist him to fulfil his potential.”
Ngobeni has amassed 51 appearances in the South African top-flight since making his debut for Celtic in October 2019.
