Rulani says he wants to sign Pirates superstar

Orlando Pirates’ possibility of losing their standout talent has become a matter of when.

With the January transfer window still only six days old, the Buccaneers may very well complete a third transfer deal.

Two players have already left Orlando Pirates in this window, while one new footballer has been announced as a new signing.

ORLANDO PIRATES’ RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG WANTED BY RULANI MOKWENA

MC Alger head coach Rulani Mokwena has confirmed a strong interest in signing the Bucaneers’ superstar Relebohile Mofokeng.

Interest in Relebohile Mofokeng

“I know the fans want Mofokeng,” Mokwena told Algerian media after Monday’s 1-0 win over CS Constantine. “I know this and believe me I want Mofokeng. He is a South African player I speak to about certain things in South African football.

While the 21-year-old Mofokeng has only delivered three assists and one goal in 17 appearances this season, his touch and creative vision are second to none in South African football.

With 12 goals and 15 assists in 49 games for Orlando Pirates last season, the Sharpeville-born star remains in high demand.

“It is a transfer that, not just from a financial perspective, I can tell you that the player has had many, many offers. And he has set his sights on going to Europe,” Mokwena continued.

“I can talk about it just as an example, that the club [MC Alger] is ambitious,” Mokwena added on the Premier Soccer League maestro. “The club has explored that possibility. But the player has no ambitions to play in Africa. So it is not a lack of ambition from the president,” Mokwena, who is flying in the Algerian league with an 11-point lead at the summit, concluded.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates have reportedly turned down three bids from Europe, Asia and America.
