Rulani On Erasmus & Motupa Amid Uncertain Future

Mamelodi Sundowns co-head coach Rulani Mokwena has given an update on the status of Kermit Erasmus and Gift Motupa, who have not featured for the DStv Premiership champions this season.

Erasmus, 32, and Motupa, 27, are in fact yet to feature in a match squad for Sundowns since the start of the campaign.

Masandawana returned to first position on the league table on Saturday when they beat Golden Arrows 2-1 at the Tuks Stadium.

Speaking after the game, Mokwena said that despite their absences, they still believe in the players, and while they are at the club, they will continue to support and help them, dismissing any notion that their signings at their club were errors.

“Ja, these things happen in football,” Mokwena said after Downs match.

“You know, they happen in football. I saw Gabriel Jesus coming to Manchester City, and then going to Arsenal.

“They happen in football, Barca bought Ibrahimović, and he did the best that he could, and then they sent him away, and went to Man Utd. Lukaku was at Chelsea from Inter, and then, unfortunately, it didn’t work out these things happen.

“It doesn’t say the move was wrong. It doesn’t profile the player in any way because I think we all know the qualities that Kermit has, we all know the qualities that Gift has.

“As long as they’re still part of the team, we’ll do the best that we can to support them and to help them and still believe in them and trust them to be able to give us an output.

“And like all the other players, while they’re still here, they are our players and we love them and we will continue to show them support and appreciation.”
