There is growing talk about Queen Ntokozo kaMayisela, the first wife of King Misuzulu KaZwelithini, who has allegedly moved out of the royal palace in Ulundi.
Queen Nompumelelo kaMchiza, the widow of the late King Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, has also been absent from important royal events recently.
At the 40th anniversary of the Reed Dance, held at eNyokeni Royal Palace in Nongoma last weekend, Queen kaMayisela and Queen kaMchiza were nowhere to be seen.
This has led to speculation, especially since only Queen Nomzamo kaMyeni, the king’s third wife, was acknowledged during the event.
Sources say Queen kaMayisela has left the kwaNkomonye Royal Palace and is now living in a rented apartment in Durban.
“She has moved out and is staying in Durban,” said one insider, suggesting possible issues between her and King Misuzulu.
Reports in 2023 alleged that King Misuzulu cheated on Queen kaMayisela but he denied the rumours and the couple decided to stay married.
Queen kaMayisela used to run the Maskolo Foundation, which mentored young boys, but the project has also become inactive.
During the Reed Dance, many people noticed the absence of Queen kaMayisela, as she had always played an important role in such events.
Her decision not to attend, along with reports of her moving out, has left many wondering about her future in the royal household.
As for Queen kaMchiza, who was the fifth wife of the late King Zwelithini, it is believed that she has distanced herself from royal activities after not supporting King Misuzulu’s crowning, instead backing Prince Simakade kaZwelithini.
Sources say she now focuses on catering contracts for royal events rather than participating in ceremonies.
“Queen kaMchiza received a catering tender for the Reed Dance VIP guests and was busy running her business during the event, which surprised many who expected her to attend the ceremony like the other queens,” said a source.
Attempts to reach both Queen kaMayisela and Queen kaMchiza were unsuccessful, as neither responded to calls or messages.
Prince Simphiwe, the royal family spokesperson, said the queens should speak for themselves on the matter.
