Royal AM have confirmed that they have recaptured highly-rated Lesotho marksman Motebang Sera, barely six months after he crossed the floor to join Golden Arrows earlier this year.
Thwihli Thwahla general manager Richard Makhoba tells FARPost they are excited with the return of the 27-year-old striker ahead of the 2022-23 DStv Premiership marathon.
“He is a good striker who will score more goals for us,” Makhoba said.
Reports indicate that Sera has signed a one-year contract with the Durban-based club and that there is a possibility of an option for an extension.
The Lesotho international left Royal AM in February this year to work with compatriot Lehlohonolo Seema at Arrows but then the coach was released towards the end of last season due to some disappointing results.
The forward struggled for game-time at Arrows and now hopes to rediscover his touch in front of goal at Royal AM who surely need more firepower upfront now that apart from domestic assignments, they will also make their debut in the more taxing CAF Champions League assignments that requires depth of squad and experience.
Reports indicate that Chippa United were also interested in securing the services of Sera but at the end of the day, Royal AM won the race after he had trained with them for some days.
Apart from Sera, the MaMkhize-owned side beefed up their frontline with the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs’ Serbian forward Samir Nurkovic and Ruzaigh Gamildien from Swallows FC.
The club also renewed the contract of former Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport veteran winger Elias Pelembe last week for one more year.
The team is now under the tutelage of co-coaches Khabo Zondo, Abraham Nteo and Dan Malesela who have stepped in the shoes of John Maduka who jumped ship to join Maritzburg United.
Sera is rated highly in Lesotho as he sits on top of the scoring charts for the Cosafa Cup with six goals, having scored in every edition he has featured in from the year 2016 to 2022.
