Royal AM coach Abram Nteo refused to gloat on the win over AmaZulu as he was running things solo on the bench, with Khabo Zondo who was his co-coach, yet again not on the sidelines.
It was the second time Zondo was not on the bench with Nteo, after he was absent against TS Galaxy at the same venue, the Chatsworth Stadium on Tuesday last week.
Zondo, according to the sources, has been demoted from his coaching role by the club and he is now the Head of Development, leaving Nteo to run things himself in the senior team.
The former Golden Arrows coach was at the game against AmaZulu, but he only showed up in the tunnel after the game had ended.
When Nteo was asked how sweet this win was as the solo coach of the club, he gave a bizarre answer.
“I’m still working for Royal AM,” said Nteo.
When asked when the statement will be released after Zondo’s disappearance from the first team after he said the media must wait for the club’s confirmation, he responded. “I don’t know when.”
He then added: “When the time is right (you will get it).”
This win pushed Royal AM to fifth in the DStv Premiership table with 20 points after half way of the season.
They next visit Maritzburg United at Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday, looking to win two games on the spin for the second time this season.
“We needed to win this game because it has been a long time that we haven’t been winning matches,” said Nteo.
“I think after this one we can continue from winning games because we have a Maritzburg United side that is coming, which is a tough one.”

Meanwhile, Maritzburg moved off the table after defeating Marumo Gallants 1-0 away on Saturday.
Royal AM head to this game having defeated Maritzburg 1-0 in the first round at Chatsworth Stadium when Sera also scored on that occasion in August.
