Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro says it’s premature to think about titles and silverware ahead of facing Mamelodi Sundowns today.
The Spaniard explained that the time they have is to spend on things they can control which are preparations for the upcoming clash. The Buccaneers played a goalless draw with Sundowns 21 days ago.
Pirates come into the game with a bit of an advantage since they didn’t concede at home. Riveiro looks to end Pirates’ two-year trophy drought as they last won the trophy in 2020 when they won the MTN8 under the German coach Josef Zinnbauer.
“We are not spending a second thinking in titles or finals we have to deal with a very tough opponent on Saturday a team which is used to playing these types of games with experienced players and full of quality,” he said in the pre-match press conference.
“We know the size of the challenge that we gonna face on Saturday. So we are just focusing on things that we can control, which is complete a good preparation one more time, and keep the level of confidence that we all have at this moment. We have a previous experience facing Sundowns.”
