Report: Kaizer Chiefs offered Bafana Bafana winger

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly been offered the opportunity to sign Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana following his departure from Tunisian giants Esperance.

The 27-year-old is currently a free agent and has returned to South Africa after his stint abroad.

Mokwana made a name for himself at Sekhukhune United before joining Esperance in 2024. He was subsequently loaned to a Saudi Arabia Pro League club before returning to the Tunisian outfit this season.

According to SABC Sport journalist Mazola Molefe, Mokwana has now been offered to Kaizer Chiefs after a proposed move to Wydad Athletic Club collapsed.

“I’ve been told that Elias Mokwana has been offered to Kaizer Chiefs after his move to Wydad collapsed. It remains to be seen if he would be signed by the club,” Molefe reported.

Kaizer Chiefs linked to Bafana star

Chiefs coach Fernando Da Cruz has previously indicated that he wants more attacking options, raising the possibility that Mokwana could be considered as a potential addition to the squad.

Former PSL midfielder Mark Haskins believes the winger has the quality to make an impact at Naturena.

“I like him and definitely believe he will add value to that Kaizer Chiefs team,” Haskins when discussing the possibilities of the Bafana star joining Amakhosi.

“I was actually shocked that he left the country without being pursued by some of the giants of local football. He was fantastic at Sekhukhune before leaving the country,” he said.

Chiefs already have several options on the wings, including Faiz Abrahams, Wandile Duba, Pule Mmodi, Asanele Velebayi and Langelihle Phili.

Mokwana, though, could offer additional competition on the right flank, where there may be an opportunity for him to establish himself.

Whether Kaizer decide to pursue the Bafana Bafana star remains to be seen, with no confirmed agreement reported at this stage.

Should Mokwana join Chiefs?
