Relebohile Mofokeng enjoyed a special reunion with some of his former Orlando Pirates teammates after returning to South Africa following his move to Belgian champions Royal Union Saint-Gilloise.

The 21-year-old playmaker recently completed a four-year transfer to the Belgian club, marking the next chapter in his rapidly rising career.

After representing Bafana Bafana at the FIFA World Cup, Mofokeng travelled to Belgium to complete his medical and finalise the move before returning home.

On Saturday, the Relebohile Mofokeng Foundation hosted a community football tournament in Sharpeville, with the newly-signed Union SG star in attendance.

Although he did not take to the field, Mofokeng was heavily involved throughout the event, cheering on the players from the sidelines and entertaining spectators by grabbing the microphone to provide light-hearted commentary during matches.

The tournament also brought together some familiar faces, including former Pirates teammate Mohau Nkota, as well as current Buccaneers stars Tshepang Moremi and Thapelo Xoki.

Relebohile Mofokeng moves to Belgium

Mofokeng is expected to return to Belgium in the coming weeks to begin pre-season training with his new club ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

He leaves Orlando Pirates having established himself as one of the club’s brightest academy graduates in recent years. Across 129 senior appearances, Mofokeng registered an impressive 29 goals and 31 assists, playing a key role in the Buccaneers’ success.

At just 21 years old, the talented attacker now has the opportunity to make his mark in Belgian football as he looks to continue his remarkable rise on the European stage.

Relebohile Mofokeng could also play in the UEFA Champions League in the coming months.
