IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

A. Yellow Level 2 Warning for severe thunderstorms with large hail, strong winds and heavy downpour leading to damage to property, livestock, endangering lives,localised flooding of susceptible roads, informal settlements and low lying bridges are expected in northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal, south-eastern parts of Mpumalanga spreading to the Lowveld areas in the evening.

Temperature and UVB forecast

Gauteng:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and coll to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the east. It will be hot in the Lowveld.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Fine in the Lowveld and Limpopo Valley at first, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers but cloudy in the Western Bushveld.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Cloudy with morning fog patches in the east at first, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers except in the extreme south-west.

Free State:

Temperature: Cloudy with morning fog patches in the east at first, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers except in the west.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Fine and warm to

Wind: hot.The wind along the coast will be strong north-westerly becoming light south-west by evening.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Fine to partly cloudy and warm but cloudy and cool with light rain along the south-coast and adjacent interior.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-easterly but moderate to fresh southerly along the south-coast.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half – Cloudy and cool with isolated showers over the western and southern parts, but scattered along the coast and adjacent interior west of Gqeberha.

The Western half -Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly.

The Eastern half – Cloudy and cool with isolated showers over the eastern and southern parts.

The Eastern halfWind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Partly cloudy to cloudy and cool with scattered showers andthundershowers but warm in places in the north.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly in th north at first, otherwise moderate to fresh south-westerly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.
