TS Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic admits his first half substitute that saw Bernard Parker make an immediate impact against Kaizer Chiefs was purely tactical.
Parker was introduced after half an hour into the game as Chiefs were well on top leading 1-0 but the former Amakhosi captain came on for Lefa Hlongwane and turned the game on its head.
The 36-year-old scored a minute after coming on and went on to play a role in the build-up for Junior Traore’s equaliser minutes before the break.
The home side managed to rally back in the second half and secure an equaliser through Keagan Dolly but Ramovic was left impressed by ‘Die Hond’ and lauded his impact on the Rockets squad since his arrival.
“Lefa was not injured, he went out because he didn’t play well in the game and I don’t have time to watch this, because everyone has to start from the first minute at the top,” Ramovic said.
“If somebody can’t be on top then he will be replaced because it’s not fair on the other teammates. But Lefa played the last two games well and in this game, he didn’t play that well so we had to change something as we were 1-0 down.
“I had to put on an extra striker and change the formation to get extra pressure up front and of course, luckily it gave us two goals – we were happy about it.
“Parker trains well, he’s an absolute role model in every space of what he’s doing, I’m very happy to have him in my team and hopefully he will score more goals.”
Galaxy will face off against Sekkhukhune United next Sunday at the Mbombela Stadium which will mark their final game in the DStv Premiership before the 2022 FIFA World Cup break.
