TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic has explained the Lefa Hlongwane-Bernard Parker first-half substitution against Kaizer Chiefs in the DStv Premiership. He says it was a tactical decision, not an injury issue.
The plan worked out perfectly for The Rockets as they came from a goal down and scored two. The match, however, ended in a two-all stalemate at FNB Stadium.
PARKER CHOSE NOT TO CELEBRATE
Barker immediately made an impression when he was introduced. He scored his first goal in TS Galaxy colours levelling matters. He chose not to celebrate the goal as a sign of respect to his former club, where he spent 11 seasons.
“Lefa [Hlongwane] was not injured, he went out because he didn’t play well, in the game. I had to put a second striker [Bernard Parker] and change the formation, get more pressure in front, and likely the change gave us two goals,” Ramovic told the media.
“Lefa, played the last two games well, in this game, he didn’t come very well in the team. We had to change something, and we were one nil down.
“Everyone has to start from the first minute at the top, if somebody can’t be on top, he will be replaced because it’s not fair to other teammates.”
Ramovic further revealed his wish to see Parker score more goals for the club, now that he has opened his scoring account.
ROLE MODEL
“Parker trains very well, he’s a role model in every space. Really happy to have him on my team, hopefully now he will score more goals,” Ramovic added.
The entertaining draw saw TS Galaxy end their seven-game goal drought. However, their search for a victory stretched to eight matches.
Up next for the Mbombela outfit is a home tie against struggling Sekhukhune United. Sekhukhune have only one victory in nine matches.
Kickoff at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday is at 15:30.
