President Cyril Ramaphosa shocked cabinet with his explicit response to EFF leader, Julius Malema during a Q&A session in Parliament on Thurday.
“What is it that you are so scared about Bheki Cele that you allow our people to die like flies, because you want to satisfy political expediency?”
EFF CIC Julius Malema questioned President Cyril Ramaphosa about his failure to act against Police Minister Bheki Cele
When asked why he was so scared about Police Minister Bheki Cele, the president responded, “I hear what you are saying Malema, but I fear f**k*l!”
Ramaphosa later retracted the vulgarity and apologised for using unparliamentary language.
Apart from the police minister’s position, Ramaphosa also had to answer questions about the appointment of the Raymond Zondo as the new Chief Justice.
During the session the president fielded questions about the Ukraine-Russia war, Covid-19 social grants, the National State of Disaster, and the rising cost of fuel amongst others.
The president said the country will maintain it’s decision to not act against Russia despite adverse economic effects on the country due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Ramaphosa detailed the telephonic conversation he had with Russian President Vladimir Putin on 10 March on his Twitter account.
“I outlined our position on the conflict that has unfolded as well as our belief that the conflict should be resolved through mediation and negotiation between the parties and – if need be – with the help of agencies that can help bring a solution to the conflict.”
