Ramaphosa Impeachment Committee Elects Chairperson as Section 89 Inquiry Begins

Parliament has officially launched the Section 89 impeachment inquiry into President Cyril Ramaphosa today, with the newly formed 31-member committee holding its first sitting and electing a chairperson as its opening order of business.

The committee, established following a Constitutional Court ruling linked to the Phala Phala matter, will now begin setting its rules and roadmap for assessing whether there is sufficient evidence to proceed with impeachment proceedings.
