Another Orlando Pirates player is attracting serious interest from abroad.

Defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi has been stealing the headlines over the past week. This comes after news emerged that he travelled to the United States ahead of a potential move to the MLS.

Just a few months ago, Mohau Nkota sealed a blockbuster move to Saudi Arabia’s Al Ettifaq. Now, another Orlando Pirates player is attracting interest from abroad. Take a look at the important details below.

Orlando Pirates winger wanted by Raja Casablanca

Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca have reportedly opened talks with Orlando Pirates over the signature of Monnapule Saleng.

Saleng is currently out on loan at Orbit College, however he’s still on the books of the mighty Buccaneers.

Now, fresh reports suggest that Saleng is a wanted man in Morocco. Raja are currently coached by former Bucs coach Fadlu Davids.

According to reputable local publication Unplayable, Raja are in talks with Orlando Pirates over a permanent move for Saleng.

Saleng’s situation at the Buccaneers

Monnapule Saleng joined Orlando Pirates back in 2021 after starring for Free State Stars in the second division.

The talented winger was loaned out to Swallows in his first season at the club. In June 2022, he returned back to Mayfair and grabbed his opportunity with both hands.

In his first full season at the club, the speedy winger scored 15 goals while assisting 11 more.

His second season was plagued by injuries however he still managed to score six goals while assisting five more goals for the club.

Things then went downhill for him in his third season at Orlando Pirates. Off-field issues and injuries limited his playing time, and a loan move was decided as the best option for him heading into this season.

So far at Orbit College, Saleng has made 12 appearances for the club, scoring two goals while assisting three more.

While there’s no doubt about his footballing abilities, the winger has struggled to cope with pressure of being the poster-boy of a big club.

Maybe, a move abroad, which will come with a fresh start is just the thing Saleng needs in order to resurrect his career.
