Severe weather alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

A. A yellow level 2 warning: Winds and waves leading to localised damage to settlements, properties and temporary structures and difficulty in navigation at sea are expected along the coast between Plettenberg Bay and Port St Johns.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Free State, North West, the northern parts of the Northern Cape, the north-eastern interior of the Eastern Cape and the northern interior of KwaZulu-Natal.

ADVISORIES:

Hot and humid weather will result in extremely uncomfortable conditions over the eastern and northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

Gauteng

Temperature: Fine and warm but hot in the extreme north.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.

Mpumalanga

Temperature: Fine and warm to hot, but very hot in places in the Lowveld.

Limpopo

Temperature: Fine and warm to hot, but very hot in the south-west.

North West

Temperature: Fine, windy and hot.

Free State

Temperature: Fine, windy and warm but hot in the north.

Northern Cape

Temperature: Cloudy in the west and south in the morning with fog patches along the coast, otherwise fine, windy and cool to warm but cold over the southern high ground.

Wind:

Western Cape

Temperature: Cloudy, windy and cold to cool with isolated showers and rain but scattered in the west and along the south coast and adjacent interior. It will become partly cloudy from the west in the afternoon.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly to westerly, becoming moderate southerly along the west coast in the evening.

Eastern Cape

The Western half: Windy in places over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm. It will become cloudy from late morning with isolated showers and rain but scattered in places along the coast.

The Western half – The wind along the coast will be strong to near gale force south-westerly.

The Eastern half: Partly cloudy and warm, becoming cloudy with isolated showers and rain in places south of the escarpment in the afternoon.

The Eastern half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be strong to gale force south- westerly.

KwaZulu-Natal

Temperature: Fine and hot to very hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon but cloudy in the east in the evening with isolated showers in the south-east. evening.
