SAFETY FOR THUNDERSHOWERS INDOORS
While lightning strikes are rare, it is important to take note of these safety tips:
Avoid contact with water. Lightning can travel through plumbing, so do not bathe, shower, wash dishes, or have any other contact with water during a thunderstorm.
Avoid using electronic equipment. Lightning can travel through electrical systems, so do not use anything connected to an electrical outlet, such as computers, laptops, game systems, washers, dryers, or stoves. Cordless or cellular phones are safe to use during a storm.
Avoid using corded phones. Lightning can travel through corded phones, so use a cordless phone instead.
Do not lie on concrete floors or lean on concrete walls. Lightning can travel through any metal wires or bars in concrete walls or flooring.
