Rachel Kolisi, the estranged wife of Springboks captain Siya Kolisi, revealed that she worked at a Bnb just to earn her own money again, in an interview with Anele Mdoda on 947 Radio.

RACHEL KOLISI: ‘I WAS MAKING BEDS’

Author, director and public speaker Rachel Kolisi opened up about her marriage as she promoted her upcoming book and documentary Falling Forward in an interview with Anele Mdoda on 947 Radio. Rachel was married to Springboks captain Siya Kolisi, for eight years before announcing their split in October 2024. The former married couple have two children together – Nicholas (11) and Keziah (9).

Rachel explained that once her son Nic went to school, she started looking for a job and the only one she could find was at a Bnb.

“So once Nic, because Nic couldn’t go to a creche because he had very under developed lungs… so once he went to school I was like okay I’ve got time, but I couldn’t find a job… so I painted my entire house,” she said.

“I just started applying as a receptionist, anything, just to have my own money again. And the only job I could find was at a Bnb. So, I was making beds, making breakfast, dealing with very interesting…,” she continued.

This revelation was made just after Rachel revealed that she had to leave work to take care of her son Nicholas as well as Siya’s two siblings Liyema and Liphelo. She explained that leaving work was “horrific” as she had to start asking for money for “pads, tampons, shampoo”.

RACHEL KOLISI ON HAVING TO QUIT HER JOB

The interview went viral after a clip was shared on TikTok of Rachel saying she needed to ask permission for money to be deposited because she left her job.

“It was one of the most horrific decisions for me… because that meant when I needed pads, tampons, shampoo, I had to ask permission, for money to be deposited,” she said.
