Eastern Cape Police are offering a R50,000 reward for information about four-year-old Nakhane Lizane, who went missing over a year ago while playing outside his home in Wells Estate, Gqeberha.
It has been 419 days since Nakhane disappeared on 11 May last year while playing with his 10-year-old brother.
The boys’ mother, Zukiswa Ngele-Lizane, was inside preparing supper when she called them in for dinner, but only the older brother came inside.
After a frantic search, Zukiswa reported Nakhane missing, and a large search party was launched.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the police are still looking for Nakhane and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
“The police are offering a reward of R50,000 for any information leading to finding the child, no matter the circumstances,” said Janse van Rensburg.
At the time of his disappearance, Nakhane was wearing black jeans, a light-coloured T-shirt, and a black jacket.
Despite numerous search efforts involving various police units, community members, private security companies and drones, no trace of the boy has been found.
CCTV footage from a nearby shop showed Nakhane playing in the street minutes after leaving his home.
Anyone with information about his disappearance can contact investigating officer Mluleki Mhlangani at 079 896 7509 or CrimeStop at 08600 10111.
