Her Royal Highness Queen Thandi MaNdlovu Zulu, the fourth wife of the late King Goodwill Zwelithini, has been awarded a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree by the University of KwaZulu-Natal for her research on the commercialisation of stevia, a natural sugar substitute, in Kenya.

His Majesty King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini was a special guest at the graduation ceremony, joined by several members of the Zulu Royal Family who attended in support of Queen Thandi.

Queen Thandi dedicated over 19 years of her career to nursing and later served as a deputy director in the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health. She furthered her academic journey by obtaining a Master’s Degree in Business from Mancosa in 2018.

Her doctoral thesis centred on developing a framework for cultivating and commercialising stevia in Kenya, with the aim of empowering agricultural entrepreneurs while driving economic growth and food security.

Beyond her academic achievements, the 75-year-old is an accomplished agricultural entrepreneur and the founder of The Queen Foundation Trust.
