PSL Transfer Window Deadline Day Live

It’s PSL Deadline Day and Orlando Pirates have dismissed a late enquiry from Cape Town City to sign Kwame Peprah.

The 21-year-old striker has fallen down the pecking order at Pirates since the arrival of head coach Jose Riveiro and the the signings Bienvenu Eva Nga and Evidence Makgopa.

After scoring nine goals in 38 games last season across all competitions, the Ghana striker has become concerned about his development with first-team prospects diminishing and only 84 minutes of football being offered in the 2022/23 season thus far.

This comes off the back of R9-million bid from Al Ahli not being responded to in August and suitors in Europe being put off by the asking-price set by the Buccaneers.

City, who have been in search of striker to bolster their attacking options for continental football, made contact with Pirates over the past 48 hours. However, they have been informed that the player is not available as he will still form part of their first-team plans for the season.

Earlier on Deadline Day, City have became the first side active on the day, announcing the loan of Mogamat May to Motsepe Foundation Championship side La Masia.

May, 24, joined the Citizens from Steenberg United in January, but has only started two games since. This season, he has only made one appearance off the bench against Mamelodi Sundowns.

City’s confirmation of the move is the first of several deadline deals expected, with the Citizens also likely to announce the arrival of Lyle Lakay on a one-year loan deal, as reported by iDiski Times.

But Lakay is likely not the only Sundowns player to find a new club, with coach Rulani Mokwena stating the club need to focus on departures but they haven’t announced any since he made those statements on the weekend.

Downs, themselves are yet to unveil new defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil, who was signed from Sporting Club Chabab Mohammédia back in June before visa and work-permit issues delayed his arrival in South Africa.

Boutouil signed a three-year deal with a two-year option after his R7-million transfer eventually arrived last month, but is yet to be unveiled by the club.

Whichever deals are going to be confirmed next, the iDiski Times team has you covered.
