South Africa has the most players in this week’s CAF Champions League Team of the Week following Mamelodi Sundowns’ 1-0 win over Al Ahly and AmaZulu’s 1-0 over ES Setif.
The two Mzansi teams have collected their second win after three group stage matches, securing themselves a good found to progress to the quarter-finals.
Masandawana collected a historic 1-0 win in Cairo, their first ever against Al Ahly in Egypt, and their fine performance did not go unnoticed as three of their players made it into the CAFCL Team of the Week.
Goalkeeper Kenedy Mweene, who made four crucial saves in the game, as well as Rushine De Reuck and Lyle Lakay were named in the Best XI of Matchday 3.
In addition, Luvuyo Memela also made it into the team following his goal and performance in the 1-0 victory over ES Setif.
Similar to Downs, ES Tunis also have three representatives in the team following their goalless draw with Etoile du Sahel, while Al Merrikh winger Elsamani Saadeldin, who scored a brace against Al Hilal Omdurman also made the CAFCL Team of the Week.
