The Premier Soccer League prosecutor advocate Zola Majavu has confirmed Kaizer Chiefs will appear before the Disciplinary Committee this week.

Chiefs have been embroiled in a legal battle with the PSL over the Covid-19 saga that saw them fail to honour to fixtures in December due to an outbreak that surged through Naturena Village.

The league rejected the proposal for the games to be postponed which is likely to result in walkover results against Cape Town City and Golden Arrows respectively – should they not when their appeal.

“The matter concerning Kaizer Chiefs will indeed be before the DC on the 25th of February 2022, whereafter it may well be postponed further and the basis that the arbitration has yet to finalised,” Majavu said on Wednesday.

“However, the matter must still be ventilated before the PSL DC which would then give further directives as they deem fit.”

The newly appointed prosecutor also confirmed that four clubs have been hit with stern warnings after failure to provide non-contact soap. and dryers dispenders in their respective changing rooms.

“There have been four clubs that have been issued letters of reprimand, four failure to comply to Covid related protocols,” he confirmed.

“Even though the league has not issued them with fines, we regarded the matters sufficiently important to bring to the attention of the affected clubs so that in future. So in future, if they do not heed the warning, then formal charges will be preferred against them.

Lastly, it was confirmed that Chippa United were charged for fielding an ineligible in the DStv Diski Challenge player in February who was suspended after receiving four bookable offences.

“Earlier this afternoon I heard charges on behalf of the league against Chippa United as a first respondent as well as their player Mr Ridwaan Serfontein on the basis that he was fielded in a fixture on 19 February 2022,” he confired.

“He was clearly a defaulter, having received four cautions preceding the day on which he was fielded and having been notified by the league. The hearing has been enrolled on the third of March 2022 and 18h00.”
