The fixtures and participants of the promotional and relegation play-offs have been confirmed after the last day of the DStv Premiership action on Saturday.
The mini-league tournament will start next Saturday, with each of the three teams playing four times, twice at home and twice away.
Surprisingly or not surprisingly, Chippa United, who were dragged at the bottom before match number 30 on Saturday, were able to survive the automatic relegation thanks to their goalless draw with Golden Arrows.
This after they earned a goalless draw against Golden Arrows at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, with twitter users accusing that the game had no intensity whatsoever.
Marumo Gallants, who reached the semi-final of the CAF Confederation Cup, were relegated despite showing good fight of late after losing 2-0 to Swallows.
Maritzburg United, who were in the disadvantageous position after they completed their matches when they drew 1-1 with Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday, finished 15th in the DStv Premiership.
The KwaZulu-Natal club will now go into the play-offs, alongside Cape Town Spurs and Casric Stars, who finished in second and third place in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The first game of the mini play-offs will be between Casric Stars and Cape Town Spurs next Saturday.
It will be followed by Maritzburg United against Casric Stars on 31 May. Then Shaun Bartlett’s side will host Maritzburg on 3 June, with all teams having played once.
Spurs will host Casric Stars on 7 June, with the latter then hosting Maritzburg three days later.
The mini-league will conclude on 14 June when Maritzburg host Spurs, with Maritzburg management confident that they will get the job done, just like they did in the 2018/19 season under Eric Tinkler.
