PSL Deadline Day: Ndumiso Mabena Update

on

More clubs have joined the chase for Ndumiso Mabena’s signature after he became a free agent following his stand off with Royal AM.

As reported by iDiski Times, one club interested in Mabena are Chippa United, who are on an upwards trend after collecting back-to-back wins with Morgan Mammila and Siyabulela Gwambi on the sidelines.

Swallows are also in the mix, but the Dube Birds can’t sign new players at the moment as they have a FIFA ban that is preventing the club from registering players.

Another PSL side that was believed to be interested in Mabena was Maritzburg United, but iDiski Times sources understand the club can’t sign him because his salary package is too huge. However, this publication has leant that Mabena will have a new home on Monday.

“Sekhukhune United have expressed an interest in Mabena and I can tell you now, Mabena will have a club on Monday,” the source said.

“What happened to him at Royal AM was just bad from their management because they were treating him badly while he can contribute unlike Samir Nurkovic who they signed during the off season but has not played because he arrived with an injury.

“You just wonder who advises Royal AM on such things.”

The 35-year-old is not bound by time at the moment despite the PSL window ending later today after becoming a free agent following his release by Royal AM.

He received his clearance from AM on Wednesday morning after court battle with the club was resolved after both sides agreed to a four-months payoff.

The 35-year-old Mabena has had a successful career, winning seven major trophies in the PSL. He has two league titles, two Nedbank Cups, one Telkom Knockout and two MTN8 titles, with all coming from his time at Orlando Pirates, who were also linked to his signature by SABC Sport.
