Prince Kaybee causes stir with parenting tweet

South African musician Prince Kaybee set social media ablaze after tweeting a controversial take on parenting and aging.

The DJ and producer advised people to have children while they’re still young, suggesting it spares kids the emotional toll of dealing with aging and sickly parents later in life.

“Have kids young, putting your teenage kids through emotional stress because you are old, sick, and about to die is not nice!!!” Kaybee posted on X (formerly Twitter).

His blunt message immediately divided users on the platform, with many debating whether youth or financial stability should come first when planning to raise children.

One user clapped back, writing: “What about putting your kids into poverty because you haven’t made it yet at that young age?”

Another weighed in with a personal story, saying: “Grew up in a home where I couldn’t have most of the things my peers had. I never got to travel, go to certain restaurants, only got clothes once the ones I had were too small. My 20s are for me to travel, take me out, buy myself that dress that’s just a lil over budget. So, no!”

Others offered a more balanced view, with one comment noting: “I concur… that’s why historically men married from the age of 25 regardless of economic contradictions.”

Another echoed the dilemma many young adults face: “I’ll have to wait until I’m financially stable. I feel sorry for them because abantwana ndiyabafuna, but iminyaka iyahamba.” (Translation: “I want children, but time is passing.”)

A more sobering reply captured the reality for many young people navigating economic uncertainty: “Bro, we really can’t afford to have kids right now. We barely can afford ourselves.”
