- Some areas in Pretoria North will experience a 10-hour water outage on Wednesday due to maintenance work by the City of Tshwane.
- The work involves two major pipeline connections along Salie Street in The Orchards.
- Residents are advised to conserve water and use grey water where possible during the shutdown.
Some suburbs in the City of Tshwane will be without water for 10 hours on Wednesday, 05 November 2025. This comes as the City’s Water and Sanitation Business Unit is set to carry out two tie-in connections along Salie Street in The Orchards, Pretoria North.
The scheduled connections involve the main installation of a new T-piece and valve on the existing 315 mm uPVC water pipeline in Salie Street, south of Rachel de Beer Street.
The second tie-in connection will combine an existing 160 mm uPVC water pipeline with the new 315 mm water pipeline installed along Salie Street.
Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo says the essential work will begin at 08h00 and conclude at 18h00.
“The City of Tshwane apologises profusely for the inconvenience that may be caused as a result of the above-mentioned work. Residents are urged to make the following water-conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle: do not water or irrigate gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06h00 and 18h00, do not wash vehicles with hosepipes, and do not fill swimming pools,” said Mashigo.
Mashigo further urged residents to use grey water to water gardens and flush toilets.
