  • President Cyril Ramaphosa described his passing as untimely and a significant loss to the nation.

The post-mortem results in the questionable death of South Africa’s ambassador to France, Nathi Mthethwa, are expected to be released on Sunday.

Mthethwa reportedly succumbed to his injuries after falling from the 22nd floor of the Hyatt Regency hotel in Paris earlier this week.

His body was found after he was reported missing a day before. His death has been in the headlines with many speculations surrounding his death.

Many hope that the post-mortem results will finally put an end to these speculations and give some sort of closure to his family.

According to media reports, the 58-year-old reserved the room at the Hyatt Regency hotel almost two weeks before his disappearance.

According to statements from both the French police and the family, the former South African Minister of Police booked the room at the hotel on the 15th of September, for a stay commencing on the 27th of September until the 28th. He did not arrive on the initial dates and made arrangements to postpone his hotel stay to Monday.

Mthethwa served as South Africa’s Ambassador to France since December 2023. President Cyril Ramaphosa has described his passing as untimely and a huge loss to the nation.
