GladAfrica Championship side Polokwane City have done a major clear-out of their playing personnel ahead of the new season.

‘Rise and Shine’ finished sixth last season, missing a promotional playoff spot by just seven points.

They also roped in Duncan Lechesa as their head coach midway through the season. The club has now decided to let go of most of the players including goalkeeper Harold Ndlovu and star player Lesiba Nku.

The other players leaving are; Simon Mamudzidzi, Sefoto Ramakgasha, Mokone Mereko, Mxolisi Gumede, Themba Chauke, Dillion Goss, Boysen Mbatha, Camry Thobejane, Kgauhelo Maboea, Thabo Mokwana, Sifiso Mokiti, Rabetswe Rakoti, Mpho Rasilingwane and Kutlwano Ntholeng.

“Players will always come and go and even when we sign them, they know that their contract has an end date. So, when that time came it was not a surprise, though they were disappointed that they did not promote the team as they had wanted,” City COO Tincy Tema explained the club’s decision to FARPost.

“We are going to bring in a new set of players, some of which have played in the Premier Division. Some will be the first time in the professional set-up.

“What we are doing at the moment we are going to the remote areas trying to identify potential players that we can bring to help the team gain promotion,” he said.
