Police Recovers Pistol Tied To 17 Murders Including A Police Officer
Police in Ekurhuleni have successfully retrieved a 9mm Girsan pistol that is connected to the killings of at least 17 individuals, including a police officer.
The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, revealed that a 44-year-old man, who had already been convicted of murdering a police officer, assisted the police in locating the firearm.

The gun was found hidden at a residence in Orange Farm after the man provided information.
The 44-year-old suspect is also implicated in 16 other murders in Gauteng.
The specialized task team officers from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department, along with other law enforcement agencies, carried out the recovery operation based on the information provided by the perpetrator.
The Germiston South African Police Services’ Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (known as the Hawks) sought assistance from the specialized task team officers, considering the suspect’s involvement in multiple murder cases.
Upon being released from custody in Germiston, the 44-year-old suspect guided the law enforcement units to a house in Orange Farm’s Drieziek Extension 3.
There, he identified a black 9mm Girsan pistol, which had its serial numbers defaced, along with 15 live rounds of ammunition.

Further investigations are yet to be conducted to secure convictions in the other murder cases involving the suspect.
The convicted perpetrator is expected to make appearances at the Palm Ridge and Heidelberg Magistrate’s Courts in the near future, as stated by Thepa.
