The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed that investigators probing the murder of media personality Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock have taken two persons of interest in for questioning.

The investigation is being led by the Gauteng Serious and Violent Crime Investigations unit, which was established shortly after the fatal shooting.

TWO TAKEN IN FOR QUESTIONING OVER MURDER OF DJ WARRAS

Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was a respected club DJ, entrepreneur and media figure within South Africa’s nightlife and entertainment industry. He built a strong following through years of work as a resident DJ at major venues and events, and was also involved in several business ventures linked to the entertainment sector. His death has sparked widespread shock and tributes from fellow artists, promoters and fans across the country.

He was approached by three armed men last week, one of whom opened fire on him before fleeing the scene on foot in broad daylight. The motive for the attack has not yet been disclosed.

Providing an update on the case, SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili said the two individuals were apprehended in the early hours of Monday morning, at around 02:00, at a hostel in Soweto.

“Investigations are continuing, and the team is following all possible leads in a quest to crack this case,” Muridili said.

WOMAN ALSO IDENTIFIED AS PERSON OF INTEREST

Last week, Johannesburg MMC for Public Safety, Mgcini Tshwaku, said police have identified a woman as a person of interest in the murder of DJ Warras. He said the woman is a former tenant at the Zambesi House building where the shooting took place.
